Un Plan de Recuperación ante Desastres (DRP en sus siglas en inglés, por Disaster Recovery Plan) es un proceso por el cual se pueden recuperar datos, hardware y software críticos para el buen funcionamiento de una empresa u organización cuando sucede un desastre natural o humano.
En pocas palabras, un DRP es la estrategia y acciones para seguir para restablecer los servicios de TI ante cualquier eventualidad en tiempos muy cortos y sin pérdida de información.
El objetivo de un DRP es reducir al máximo los efectos de un desastre en las funciones de las organizaciones, para que, ante cualquier eventualidad, sean capaces de reanudar rápidamente sus funciones.
